I worked in both the men’s and ladies wear departments as a future trend designer.  My roles and responsibility included the following:
Designing collections with my manager’s input
Creating mood boards
Creating flat technical sketches for the Development Team
Researching trends using WGSN and magazines and by examining in store merchandise
Selecting fabrics for development with my manager’s input
Working with developers to ensure that garment fits are accurate and complete
Researching concepts and artwork ideas and briefing the graphics team
Correcting amendments on strike-offs of prints and repeats
Developing colour combinations for prints and garments
Creating occasional prints
Testing new shapes and silhouettes

Before my work at Mr Price, I was a creative freelancer working on projects from concept and research stage through to the development of the final product, these included:
Designing and construction of fashion related projects such as wedding dresses and other apparel
Sewing and pattern making
Graphic design and illustration

Future Shock Collective, Johannesburg
2009 TO 2010

Along with two other business partners, I started a label called “Future Shock Collective” (“FSC”) focusing on upmarket, tailored, bespoke apparel for both men and women.  My roles included:
Conceptualisation and mood boards
Designing the collection - mens and ladies wear
Textile design / developing artwork by hand for the collection
Label and logo design
Pattern making for the collection
Garment construction
